What is a clinical psychologist?
1
A clinical psychologist is doctoral level trained mental health specialist, who focuses on working with individuals, families, and couples across a wide range of human difficulties. We often specialize in assessment, diagnosis, and psychosocial treatments across various clinical populations.
We differ from psychiatrists, who have medical degrees and prescribe medication.
We differ from Master Level therapists in that we have additional years of training and specialize in the provision of comprehensive psychological testing/evaluation.
What to expect during the initial appointment?
Prior to the initial appointment, you will receive opening paperwork. This must be completed no later than 48 hours ahead of your scheduled appointment (otherwise, your appointment may be cancelled). During the initial appointment, we will go over the opening papwerwork , discuss your reason for coming into therapy, and identify treatment preferences.
Why don’t you accept insurance?

Managed care is a difficult system to navigate as a proivder (and member). They abide by various rules/policies that often limits treatment options.. This also takes significant time away from the provision of therapy.
Cicada Psychology DOES accept payment from HSAs.
A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) will also be provided so that there is clear commumication of costs.
For more information on GFEs go to: https://www.cms.gov/medical-bill-rights/help/guides/good-faith-estimate.
Will you be a good fit for me?

Every therapist/psychologist is dfferent.. While I can’t guarantee that I’ll be a good fit for everyone, I have worked effectively with a wide range of people over my career. I’m known to be direct and full of quips.
For example: therapists/psychologists are like pizza. Some are really good, some are meh, and some are even worse. Most of us would agree that if we had pizza we didn’t like we would just not return to that particular pizza shop. Most of us would not stop eating pizza.
